Being part of the Blind Brook sports program can be one of the most memorable experiences in a child’s life. In addition, the relationship between a coach and athlete is an important one and if your son/daughter has any concerns relating to their team, they should be expressed directly to the coach. This gives your child an opportunity to learn how to deal with problems that arise in their lives. After trying to resolve an issue on their own, there may still be times when it will be necessary for a parent to speak directly
with the coach. Please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Remember never approach a coach immediately before or after a game or practice. Parents, coaches, and players should adhere to the 24 hour rule. Meetings with coaches should be by appointment.
- Parents should not discuss playing time, team strategy, and/or play calling. The coach of each team will be completely in charge with regard to playing time of all athletes on the team.
- Parents should not keep scorebooks or any other official documents for a team that your son/daughter is participating. If parents would like to provide assistance on a voluntary basis, they should obtain prior approval from the Athletic Director.
- Appropriate issues to discuss with coaches are: ways to help your child improve, concerns about your child’s behavior, notification of scheduling conflicts well in advance, or a specific concern in regard to a coach’s philosophy and/or expectation.
