NEW INITIATIVES
K-12 Science and Technology Curricula
- Revise and integrate K-12 Science and Technology curricula to align with the New York State Mathematics, Science and Technology standards.
- Evaluate the current Science Research program outcomes and establish a course of action to support and strengthen the present program.
Academic Benchmarks: New York State Tests, Grades 3-8, Regents Exams
- Using the existing student data base system, establish competitive benchmarks for student performance at the success and mastery/distinction levels. Identify curriculum gaps between assessment, instruction and the relationship between student outcomes on state assessments and report card grading.
Longitudinal Student Academic Profile
- Explore the software available to develop a district management system to represent student academic performance on a longitudinal basis from grades K-12.
Middle School Identity
- Explore the feasibility of an eight (8) period day and implement initiatives to strengthen the middle school program, with a focus on addressing differentiated student needs and building cross-curricular literacy skills.
Elementary School Facility Upgrade
- Develop a construction plan that anticipates long-term instructional needs, enrollment trends and program goals.
Character Education
- Explore a Middle School pilot, grades 6, 7, and 8, to focus on Bullying that incorporates instruction for students, workshops for students and parents, and staff training to reduce incidents of student bullying and to demonstrate zero tolerance for bullying.
- Explore a High School pilot, grades 9, 10, 11 and 12, to expand district involvement through partnerships with the police, community agencies and parents that attempts to reduce the incidence of illegal drinking and drugging both on evenings schools is in session, weekends and vacation periods.

MULTI-YEAR GOALS
Middle States Evaluation
- Complete the evaluation process by April 2008 and develop
a five (5) year performance-based
plan (2008-2013) to address
priority areas in need of improvement.
Board of Education Policies
- Complete the review, update and adoption of Board of Education
policies by June 30, 2008 with implementation of administrative
regulations to follow.
High School Programs
- Develop a four year plan from 2008-2012 that addresses multi-year scheduling of Advanced Placement courses that garner insufficient students to be offered each year.
- Assess the positive outcomes of the Senior Options Program and specify areas for improvement to be implemented in the 2008-2009 school year.
