Community Profile

The Village of Rye Brook  was established in 1982 within the Town of Rye in Westchester County, New York. The Village is located near the Long Island Sound, 25 miles northeast of New York City. It is bordered by Greenwich, CT, and several other Westchester, NY communities including Port Chester, Rye, and Purchase/Harrison.

Rye Brook has a population of approximately 8,600, and is a predominantly middle to upper class residential area with mostly single family homes. 78% of the population is represented by families (non-single residences) representing a higher than national average concentration of families. The Village has five main parks that contain ball fields, tennis courts, walking trails, basketball courts, and playgrounds.  Much of the work of running the village is done by unsalaried volunteers. This includes the Mayor, Board of Trustees, and the various boards, commissions, committees, and councils.

Although Blind Brook is a small suburban community, it boasts a few large corporations that provide support for the school tax base including Cadbury Schweppes, Entex Information Systems and Pfizer Doral Arrowood.  The residents of the district have consistently supported the schools by passing virtually every budget and bond issue presented to them.

Blind Brook Schools comprise three schools on two campuses, divided between an elementary school (K-5) on one campus and a shared middle school (6 – 8) and high school (9-12) building on the other.
