Letter from the Principal

It is at once a proud and humbling occasion for me, for the first time, to address the Blind Brook High School community. Proud because I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this distinguished school; humbling because of the challenge we collectively face to move to the next level of achievement for each of our students.

I too have learned that Blind Brook is a special place. American public education today can be characterized in many ways, but, in essence, it is one of the key ways we prepare our young people to live individually fulfilling and socially productive lives. That is the theme upon which we will center BBHS in the years that come. To this end, through our programs in and out of the classroom, we will seek to build our students’ capacity in goal setting, problem solving, communication skills, social-emotional understanding, relationship building, research, writing, tolerance, and community service. These are the academic, political, economic and scientific bases that drive success in our democratic society and global world.

How well we accomplish our challenge depends on the involvement of all the interested parties – students, parents, teachers, administrators and community members. Please join all of us at BBHS by committing your intelligence and your passion to meeting our common goals. With hope, we will create the appropriate educational path for each and every young person in a demanding, yet nurturing and supportive environment. I hope that the next few weeks and months will afford the opportunity to meet and get to know as many of you as possible. It is my hope that by speedily building trusting relationships with all of you, I can quickly contribute to our joint efforts to make the most of these wonderfully enriching years for our community’s young people.

I hope to see you soon. And, when I do, you can expect me to ask what you plan to read
this summer.

Very truly yours,
