Your article should follow the format listed below:
   
  • Introduction
  • 3 to 5 Paragraphs: Provide general background information and be sure to answer the three (3) essential questions for your assigned role listed in the project packet including information about who, what, where, when, how and why.
  • Conclusion
  • 1 picture no larger than 3” x 3”, placed anywhere in the article except first
 
Page Set-Up for your Newspaper Article:
The set-up for your article has specific details that you must follow in the order listed. You should ask for clarification if you are not sure.
 
FIRST: Set the Margins:  
 
Top: .66 Bottom: .66
Left: 1.25 Right: .50 or .66
         

SECOND: Type in the title of your article
Use Times New Roman font size 18. You may not use WORD ART.

THIRD: Type in your byline
Use Times New Roman font size 12 then press <ENTER> to skip a line.

FOURTH: Set-up the columns for the body of your article.

FOR MS WORD 1997-2003

 
  1. From the FORMAT menu select COLUMNS
  2. In the COLUMNS dialog Box, select the TWO COLUMNS icon and select “This point forward” in the APPLY TO box.
 

FOR MS WORD 2007

 
  1. From the PAGE LAYOUT menu select COLUMNS and then MORE COLUMNS
  2. In the COLUMNS dialog Box, select the TWO COLUMNS icon and select “This point forward” in the APPLY TO box.
 
FIFTH: Start typing the body of your article.
As you type the text will automatically appear in the left column. As your article gets longer the left column will fill up and then the right column. You may insert your picture anywhere except first in your article. The picture may be no larger than 3 inches wide and 3 inches tall.
