• Sign Up to be a BMPRSS Class Parent:

    Please Note: For the 2018/2019 school year, the sign up to volunteer to be a Class Parent will be through CommunityPass.

    Instructions:

    • CommunityPass will be open for Class Parent registrations beginning August 20 at 9am, ending August 22 at 6pm
    • Users can access CommunityPass using the link: communitypass.net/ryebrook
    • Existing users can login with their username and password. If you need to create a new account, click on “Create your account now!"
    • Step 1 on your home page, select Rye Brook PTA Blind Brook School from the drop-down menu. 
      Step 2 on your home page, select "Class Parent" from the drop-down menu.
    • Click "Register Now.”
    • Follow the prompts to register as a volunteer for Class Parent. Select the adult as the participant. You may select to be a Head Class Parent And/Or an Assistant Class Parent. The registration process will ask you to list all of the children (in order of preference) for whom you would like to be selected as a class parent. Please note that signing up through CommunityPass does not guarantee your role as Class Parent. You will be contacted by the parent coordinators when the list is finalized. Priority will be given to those who are paid members of the PTA. Please note there is NO COST to signing up via CommunityPass, your credit card will not be charged.

    Class Parent Guidelines for Grades K & 1:

    Head Class Parent:

    • Be a member of the PTA and attend monthly PTA meetings (if unavailable to attend the monthly PTA meeting, then one of the Assistant Class Parents must substitute).
    • Act as liaison between the Teacher, Assistant Class Parents and general class parents.
    • Be responsible to work together with other parents in the class to staff all class trips, classroom events and parties, making sure that ALL parents have the opportunity to take part in at least one class event, whether a trip, activity or party, if they want to.
    • Collect class dues.
    • Has prior Class Parent experience at BMPRSS – preferred.
    • Be responsible to provide help/support to the Teacher.
    • Be responsible for recruiting one parent from the class to be the main contact for our PTA Creating Connections Program.
    • Be available to communicate with the Teacher via email, phone and/or notes sent home and respond within a reasonable amount of time.
    • Support the Teacher if she/he requires any copying, project prep, etc.
    • Get as many parents as possible involved in classroom activities.
    • Participate in PTA activities and fundraisers and encourage other parents to participate as well.
    • Send emails to the class parents about various school and PTA functions.
    • Organize at least one community service project with the class, whether separate or related to a class party (i.e., create care packages during the holidays or make Valentines for others).

    Assistant Class Parents:

    • Be a member of the PTA and attend the monthly PTA meeting if the Head Class Parent is unavailable to attend.
    • Be responsible to provide help/support to the Head Class Parent and Teacher.
    • Support the Head Class Parent and Teacher if she/he requires any copying, project prep, etc.
    • Be available to communicate with the Head Class Parent via email, phone and/or notes sent home and respond within a reasonable amount of time.
    • Participate in PTA activities and fundraisers and encourage other parents to participate as well.   

     

    Class Parent Guidelines for Grades 2, 3, 4 & 5:

    Head Class Parent:

    • Be available to communicate with the Teacher via email, phone and/or notes sent home, and respond within a reasonable amount of time.
    • Support the Teacher if she/he requires any copying, project prep, etc.

    • Participate in PTA activities and fundraisers and encourage other parents to participate as well.

    • Be responsible to provide help/support to the Head Class Parent and Teacher.

    • Be available to communicate with the Head Class Parent via email, phone and/or notes sent home and respond within a reasonable amount of time.
    • Participate in PTA activities and fundraisers and encourage other class parents to participate as well.  
    • Has a child who has gone through one or two grades in the BMPRSS school district – preferred.
