MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports)

MTSS is a general education program designed to ensure that students who require academic or social-emotional support receive it in a timely, individualized manner. As the name suggests, it is based on a tiered system of increasingly intensive supports. All students receive MTSS support every day; those who need more support may move into higher tiers where they receive more
specialized instruction and/or counseling. This process is grounded in data and research-based intervention practices and overseen by a building-level team that meets regularly to review individual student referrals and ongoing progress.
