Superintendent's Message
Greetings Blind Brook Families and Friends,
It’s been an exciting spring on both campuses and our students are truly flourishing. Every two weeks, I prepare an update for the Board to share publicly at our meeting, and I’m honestly hard-pressed to condense the volume of accolades we’ve seen lately. I continue to be blown away by the accomplishments of our teams and individual students across academics, the arts, and athletics. We certainly have a lot to celebrate in Blind Brook!
Budget Update
Our annual school budget has been adopted, and we will hold a final Budget Hearing on May 11th, followed by the Budget Vote on May 19th. To ensure everyone stays informed, we have overhauled our budget website with more detailed information on the process. The budget includes a bus purchase proposition which is strategically timed to stay ahead of the state's electric bus mandate and comes at no additional cost to taxpayers. We hope to see a great turnout at the polls on the 19th!
Facilities Progress
The latest milestone of our 2024 Capital Project took place last week with the mounting of new chillers to the roof of the MS/HS. To keep you in the loop, we’ve launched a new page on our website to track the bond project’s progress. We hope you’ll check back often to see the "returns" on your community investment.
Looking Ahead
We are now entering the peak "busy season." Between spring concerts and athletic playoffs, we have several standout events approaching:
- Creaticon: May 14th
- Musical Performances: MS Select Band & Jazz Concert, May 7th; MS Spring Choral Concert, May 13th; RSS 4th/5th Grade Spring Concert, May 19th; BBHS Chorus Concert, May 21; 6th/7th Grade Band, June 3rd; Select Band & Jazz Ensemble, June 4th; and 5th Grade Night of Music, June 12th
- Science Research Symposium: May 20th
I encourage everyone to come out and be inspired by the creativity and talent our students bring to this community. As we head toward year-end traditions like Senior Options (internship), Prom, and finally Graduation on June 24th, we are reminded that every ending is really just a new beginning.
Thank you for your continued support of our schools and the remarkable young people who make this district what it is.
See you around campus,
Dr. Brian J. Alm
Superintendent of Schools
