Several faculty and staff members when asked to share a word they felt describes Superintendent Colin Byrne, the word that came to mind was “chill.”
It was with a calm and steady hand that Dr. Byrne led the district through some challenging times, including the COVID pandemic aftermath, stepping in unexpectedly as interim superintendent and later a construction project that did not go as planned.
He is ready to take his “chill” demeanor into the next chapter, as he is retiring at the end of this school year. He said he has no initial plans for him and his wife.
In what was described by Board of Education President Jeffrey Mensch as “everyone’s favorite meeting,” the board met for the final time this school year on June 17. This time the district’s business was of a celebratory nature, where they conferred tenure on several qualified staff and administrators and recognized and thanked the staff who were retiring.
