New Director of Pupil Personnel Services - Alexandra Lafontaine-Casabona

Dear Members of the Blind Brook Community,

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Alexandra Lafontaine-Casabona as the new Director of Pupil Personnel Services for our district!

Following a comprehensive selection process that included a committee of dedicated stakeholders, Ms. LaFontaine-Casabona was recommended to the Board of Education and officially appointed at last night’s board meeting. She will be succeeding Karen Vitti, whose many contributions to our schools we deeply appreciate.

Ms. Lafontaine-Casabona brings over two decades of experience in public education, with a strong record of leadership in special education and student support services. Most recently, she served as Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services in the Katonah-Lewisboro School District, where she oversaw special education, English Language Learners (ELL), Response to Intervention (RTI), and Universal Pre-K (UPK) programs districtwide. Prior to that, she was Director of Special Education in Mamaroneck Union Free School District and spent more than 15 years as a special education teacher in Mt. Pleasant.

Ms. Lafontaine-Casabona holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Pace University, and a Master’s degree in Special Education from Adelphi University. She also holds a Professional Diploma in Educational Leadership, and is currently completing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership, both at Manhattanville College. In addition, Ms. Lafontaine-Casabona is fluent in Spanish and brings a culturally responsive, student-centered approach to her work.

With her deep expertise and passion for inclusive education, Ms. Lafontaine-Casabona is poised to be an outstanding addition to our leadership team. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome to the Blind Brook learning community!

Sincerely,

Dr. Brian Alm

School Board Recognition - October 2025

This is a time to promote awareness and understanding of the important work performed by local school boards. Public schools form the bedrock of our communities and our country. Democracy thrives with educated citizens capable of critical thinking and civil discourse. And it is our local school boards who are ultimately responsible for student success.

It takes strong schools to build a strong community, and these volunteers devote countless hours to making sure our schools are helping every child learn; they make the tough decisions and spend many hours studying education issues and regulations in order to provide the kind of leadership our community expects.

School board members give the Blind Brook community a voice in education decision-making. Even though we make a special effort to show our appreciation in October, their contribution is a year-round commitment.

The members serving our district are as follows:
