THE DIGNITY FOR ALL STUDENTS ACT
THE DIGNITY FOR ALL STUDENTS ACT
The Dignity for All Students Act (Dignity Act) seeks to provide the State’s public elementary and secondary school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function.
An incident of harassment/discrimination needs to be filed THE SAME DAY THE INCIDENT OCCURS, or is brought to your attention. An Incident Reporting Form will be filled out and submitted to the building Dignity Act Coordinator. It is very important to collect as much information as possible as an incident is witnessed or brought to your attention. If an incident is witnessed, observe and note students or other adults who may also be witnesses. Note the time and location accurately. As an adult, you are obligated to respond to the behavior and assess the safety of the situation. Notify the Dignity Act Coordinator and follow up with a report. A copy will be given to the Director of Guidance. As the complainant, you will be notified of the results of the investigation.
