RELEASE OF STUDENT INFORMATION (INCLUDING PHOTOS)

With regard to the release of student information, unless an objection is submitted in writing by the parents or legal guardians, or by students over 18, the Blind Brook School District gives notice of intent to provide, release, and/or publish in the district newsletter, newspapers, other publications, and the website, information that is appropriate in connection with school achievements, programs, music productions, athletic events, etc.

Student information that the District will release may include the following:

  •  Student Name
  •  Address
  •  Telephone number
  •  Date of birth
  •  Grade level
  •  Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
  •  Weight and height (if members of athletic teams)
  •  Dates of attendance
  •  Honors, degrees and awards received
  •  Photograph
  •  Name of the educational agency or institution most recently previously attended by the student

Under Title 45, US Code, Part 99, Rights of Parents and Students, parents who do not desire release of above information to the public must make specific requests in writing to the Blind Brook School District. Requests should be sent to Charles Von Hollen at cvonhollen@blindbrook.org and should include the specific types of student information not to be released.

Regarding state testing, the school district provides parents information on the achievement level of their children on each of the state academic assessments.
