BBMS Drama Club Bring Their Creativity "From The Page To The Stage"
Congratulations to the BBMS Drama Club!
On Friday, May 31st at 6:00 p.m. in the George Trautwein Auditorium, the Middle School Drama Club Ensemble presented their annual original showcase for the community, "From the Page to the Stage!" -- and it was a hit! The BBMS Drama Club program, lead by Mrs. Dakers, is designed to teach the various techniques that build a solid foundation for exploring the dramatic arts in a collaborative, workshop-style, process-based setting. Throughout the year, our middle school Drama Club members explored and developed theatrical skills through team-building games, improvisation work, dramatic structure study, playwriting, theatrical design, and “master classes,” which highlight specific dramatic skills and techniques. Their hard work culminated in the performance showcase of original scenes written, directed, and designed by The Ensemble.
Members of the High School Drama Club, also directed by Mrs. Dakers, served as mentors and supported the work of our middle school students. Together, they created something truly special, including an opening scene which highlighted the Drama Club experience and our Pitch Meeting process, depicting how the students propose ideas and decide which scenes to develop for performance. The Ensemble's various scenes explored the effects of technological culture on our lives, funny family dynamics, stand-up comedy, and the diversity reflected and celebrated through the theatrical arts. Our seventh graders created a very dramatic Hunger Games extension story inspired by the ELA curriculum, which brought the entire theatrical space to life! It was quite an evening!
Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Drama Club and celebrate the arts at Blind Brook!
