Construction Update: December 2019

Dear Members of the Blind Brook Community:

As the holiday season starts our construction project continues apace. The cold weather and snow did impact some of the exterior work, but we are happy to see work in all areas moving forward! The steel framework for the FabLab at the Middle School/High School has been erected and the walls continue to go up. The FabLab building and adjoining corridor walls continue towards completion. The workers are attempting to complete the exterior framework during the month of December to be able to work inside the structure during the coldest winter months.

At the Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street School, trenches are being dug to support the new walls that will be adjoining the existing Library Wing. Work is also being done on preparing sewage pipes for the new extension.

The renovation work in the areas where the new main office and STEAM bar classrooms will be located continues forward. Footings were dug in the STEAM classrooms for the columns that will support the roof and the new main corridor.

The bathroom by the B.M.P. Ridge Street School main office is almost complete. The bathroom is expected to be functional when we return from the holiday break. Assuming this work is done, the construction workers will begin to update the bathrooms in the Library Wing. This work is being done now to get a head start on the work scheduled for next summer.

Despite the cold temperatures and snowy weather, progress continues on all of our construction projects!

There will be an update on the construction projects given at the next Board of Education meeting on December 17th. The District’s construction manager will be explaining the current status of all the work that is being done. All are welcome to attend!
