us news best high schools iconBlind Brook High School has continued its rise in the rankings of the best high schools in New York State and the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual tally of nearly 18,000 schools.

Following an excellent showing in the 2022 rankings, Blind Brook was ranked 21st statewide and 189th nationally in the rankings announced April 26, 2022. Two years ago those rankings were 29th and 251st, respectively.

What’s more, the publication’s methodology looks at individual performance measures to develop a scorecard for each school, and Blind Brook shined in several categories. These include 99% reading proficiency, 98% mathematics proficiency, 96% science proficiency and 91% of students who took at least one Advanced Placement exam.

“The US News and World Report Ranking is a reflection of the excellent teaching and learning that happens every day at Blind Brook High School,” said Blind Brook High School Principal Dr. Jennifer Chirles. “Although the rankings pertain specifically to the high school, they speak emphatically to the quality education our students have received throughout their K-12 experience in the Blind Brook School District. We are proud of our students and teachers. They continually impress us!”

“This is fantastic that the hard work that our students and staff do every day can be reflected with this kind of recognition,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Colin Byrne. “What is remarkable is that Blind Brook High School’s ranking has climbed for the past two years! It only serves to confirm what we already know, that the commitment to excellence by our community, our Board of Education, our administration and our faculty combine to ensure a world-class educational experience for our students.”
