Blind Brook High School to celebrate its 50th anniversary

Blind Brook High School is having a milestone anniversary this year and it is time to celebrate!

On May 18, 2024, from 1-5 p.m., the community is welcome to join in a special celebration in recognition of fifty years of teaching and supporting local children.

The Blind Brook Junior-Senior High School, as it was called then, opened its doors in September 1973. The building and staff may have undergone some changes since then, but its spirit lives on. 50th Anniversary logo

“It’s really a way to celebrate the history of Blind Brook High School,” Principal Jennifer Chirles said. “From when we started and the successes we have now.”

The 50th Anniversary committee has been working for months planning details of the day and are looking to get the word out to as many alumni as they can.

The day will begin with a special commemorative ceremony at 1:15 p.m. Organizers are planning to create a time capsule for future generations. There will be food trucks on site and guests will have an opportunity to tour the school and reunite with former teachers and classmates.  There will be live music performed by a select band, yearbooks to look through and view a gallery of photos showing the transformation of the building through the years.

As a special treat, attendees will also have an opportunity to sign “the rock,” like they did as seniors.

Anyone interested in attending the event can follow the 50th Anniversary event on the Blind Brook High School Facebook page. To RSVP for the event, please visit http://tinyurl.com/BBHS50. To volunteer or if you have any questions, please email bbanniversary@blindbrook.org.
